Pulled too hard on bottom pulled eyelet |
Part 3 complete |
Great lesson
I learned something last night: Pull holes first, then cut holes! I was working on part 3 of AW80 (Around the world in 80 stitches) and naturally I couldn't wait to start the fun bit, the cutwork. That succeeded very well, just like most of the stitches, until I reached the pulled eyelets. I pulled just a little too hard and the cut fabric thread were pulled from underneath the kloster block. I pulled a little less hard with the second cutwork area, and thankfully that went well. But next time I must remember to first finish all the other stitches before I start cutting.
By the way, I changed the pattern somewhat. Part three consists of two versions and I thought both versions were very nice. So I was still in doubt which one to do, when Lana mentioned that you can do half of one and half of the other version! A brilliant idea and I immediately went ahead with the Russian chain stitches. One third of those are done with one colour, the second third with another colour and the rest with metallic thread. So I took the first colour and stitched the stitches on all four petals.
And then I discovered that two pettals are stitched with different colours! Should I rip the stitches again? I decided to leave them, because that meant that I would have two colours left to change the whitework. After all I deliberately selected my colours because of which I had in my perle stash. So now I could work the whitework centre with perle 8 and 12 in DMC colour 814!
