Kriebels

Als lid van de OIDFA kreeg ik onlangs een schitterend geschenk: een prachtig boek over duitse "lappets". Dit zijn een soort van smalle sjaaltjes die op het hoofd om een knot gebonden gedragen werden door vrouwen tijdens hun wekelijkse bezoek aan de kerk. Het boek geeft uiteraard een veel betere uitleg.

Wat misschien nog belangrijker is, het boek zit vol met patronen van zulke lappets! Daarnaast bevat het ook beschrijvingen en schematische tekeningen van een groot aantal van de specifieke onderdelen. Hierdoor geeft het mij genoeg vertrouwen om te denken dat ik zo'n lappet ook kan maken. Hierdoor begint het bij mij weer te kriebelen om met m'n kant aan de slag te gaan.

Maar voorlopig ligt er nog een prachtig bucks point zakdoekkantje op mijn kussen dat ik ook graag af wil maken. Ik moet alleen nog even moed verzamelen om weer verder te gaan

Recently I received a gorgeous present because I'm a member of the OIDFA: a beautiful book on German Lappets. These are a kind of small shawl that were worn on the head, tied around a hair knot by women during their weekly visit to church. Naturally the book gives a much better explanation.

What is maybe even more important, the book is filled to the brim with patterns of these lappets! And it gives descriptions and schematic drawings of a large number of the specific details. This gives me the confidence to think I might be able to attempt making such a lappet. Because of this I´m starting to have this itch to work on my lace again.

But for now I still have a lovely bucks point hanky edge on my pillow. And I still want to finish that. I just need to find the courage to actually start again.
