20 van Alphen

De 20 van Alphen is niet alleen de internationale opening van het hardloop seizoen, maar ook een hele happening voor Alphen. Niet alleen worden er internationale wedstrijden gelopen op de 10 km en de 20 km (uiteraard), maar ook zijn er afstanden voor recreanten en twee afstanden voor Nordic Walking.

Maar waar ik het nu over wil hebben zijn de afstanden voor de jeugd. Al jaren doen alle basisscholen van Alphen mee. Mijn mannen waren nooit geinteresseerd, maar dit jaar kwam Chris met de mededeling dat hij mee wilde doen aan de 2.5 km. En ja, toen kon Daniel natuurlijk niet achterblijven. Dus vanmorgen gingen wij naar het centrum van Alphen.

Wij stonden bij de start, en wij dachten dus foto's te kunnen maken. Nou, niet dus. Er doen zo verschrikkelijk veel kinderen aan mee (vreselijk gaaf om te zien, trouwens), dat je al geluk hebt als je ze toevallig ziet, laat staan dat je ze op film krijgt.


En daarna zou er 1 bij de finish gaan staan (maar daar zag het zwart van de mensen) en ik zou langs het parcour gaan staan met een camera. Nou, tegen de tijd dat ik bij het parcour kwam, zo'n 200 meter voor de finish, waren de eerste lopers al binnen. En ook daar lukte het niet om ze op de foto te krijgen.



Maar na de medaille-uitreiking lukte het wel.

But right now I want to talk to you about the distances for the children. For years, every primary school in Alphen is participating with a few kids. My men never showed any interest, but this year Chris mentioned that he wanted to run the 2.5 km. And of course, Daniel wanted to run as well. So, this morning we went to the center of Alphen.


We found a spot at the start, and we thought we could make pictures of the boys. Well, forget it. There are so many kids running (really terrific to watch, by the way), that it's already a challenge to just see them, let alone catch them on film.

And after that, one of us was going to stand at the finish (but that didn't work due to the sheer number of people there), and I was going to find a spot along the route. Well, by the time I reached the route, about 200 meters away from the finish, the first runners had already reached the finish. And there I also didn't succeed in getting them on film.

But after they received their medal, we succeeded.
