The Great Escape finished

Afgelopen vrijdag kwam het laatste deel van de SAL van TheStitch Specialists, The Great Escape van Abi Gurden, beschikbaar. En ik vind het met een SAL altijd de kunst om het project bij te houden zodat ik niet lang na het verschijnen van het laatste deel het project af kan sluiten. En, dankzij een paar onverwacht vrije dagen vanwege een ziek kind (m'n jongste had buikgriep, maar na twee dagen luieren op de bank is hij nu weer zover om morgen naar school te gaan) heb ik nu mijn versie van The Great Escape af.

Dit was een geweldig leuke SAL, met in elke aflevering weer een paar leuke steken (de kruissteekjes zijn op de handen te tellen). Elke aflevering koste niet veel tijd en toch zag je na elk deel weer vooruitgang. Het moeilijkste van al vond ik nog het kiezen van de kleuren. Mede dankzij de stof ("Jazz" van PictureThisPlus) wilde ik een plaatje in de schemering creëren, en ik geloof dat dat aardig gelukt is.

Trouwens, Abi heeft tegenwoordig haar eigen site waar ze haar ontwerpen verkoopt. Binnenkort zal The Great Escape daar ook verschijnen: Bee's Needlework. Ga daar eens kijken als je eens iets anders wilt.

Lazy Daisies and Octagon Rhodes

Last Friday I received the last part of the SAL from TheStitch Specialists, The Great Escape by Abi Gurden. I find it a sport to try and keep up with the project, so I can finish it soon after receipt of the last part. And, I have now finished my version of The Great Escape due to a few unexpected days off from work because of a sick kid (my youngest had a stomach flu, but after two days lazing around on the sofa he is ready to go back to school tomorrow).

This was a real fun SAL, with in each episode a few new stitches (you won't run out of fingers while counting the cross stitches). Each session didn't take that much time to finish, but there was definite progress after each session. The hardest part of all was selecting the colours. Partly due to the fabric ("Jazz" from PictureThisPlus) I wanted to create a twilight picture, and I think I managed that reasonably well.
